Typical of many of the early female artists, little is known of the life of the California artist Clara L. Ruth. Census records indicate she was born December 18, 1874 in Iowa. Much information about her art education and early life are currently unknown.
In 1900 she was living in Long Beach, California with her partner Mildred Dillon; they are both listed as artists. The 1910 census notes her as living in Bowen Precinct, Nebraska with her mother, step-father and step-sister. Curiously, (showing 500 of 1520 characters). |
