Clyde Roberts was born in Sandusky, Ohio and received
his preliminary education in that city. In 1942, he began his formal
education at the Cleveland Art Institute and Western Reserve University,
graduating from both institutions in 1946.
After
graduation, he began teaching art in the public schools of Ashtabula,
Ohio. The following year, he entered Columbia University where he
