This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information is an exhibition description from the Baum School of Art:

Conrad Roland: The Pennsylvania Painter of Birds
June 1–July 8, 2011
The David E. Rodale and Rodale Family Galleries, Allentown, PA -

The Baum School of Art is proud to present a very special exhibition and sale of over 80 paintings and drawings of birds by native Pennsylvanian and a nationally known wildlife painter, illustrator and ornithologist, Conrad Roland (1900–1957). Many of these works have never been exhibited and are a wonderful opportunity for collectors and bird lovers to add examples of his work to their collections.

Conrad Roland was born in Reading, PA in 1900. He attended the PA Academy of Fine Arts where he was awarded a prestigious Cresson Scholarship in 1924. For over 30 years, he worked in Kempton, PA.

Roland was considered both a painter and ornithologist. When confronted with this contrast, he stated, “I have been a lifelong student of ornithology, but while I have studied it pretty seriously, I always have been primarily an artist.” In addition to being an outstanding artist, he also illustrated for a variety of professional journals.
