Born outside Holstein, Nebraska, he became a watercolor and acrylic painter who studied in Idaho with Zoltan Szabo and with Robert Wood in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1974, he began giving workshops across Nebraska and settled in that state in Chappell.
