| Born in Chicago, Illinois, Donald Reichert had a career as a collage artist, watercolor painter, art administrator, designer, and teacher in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
He studied at the American International College and with Paval Tchelitchew, Owen Smith, and Emmy Zweybruck.
From 1951 to 1954, he was an administrator at Yale University and from 1955 to 1970, he was director of the George Walter Smith Museum in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is co-author of the book, Maxfield Parrish Tetrospect, 1966; and author of The George Walter Vincent & Belle Townsley Smith Collection of Islamic Rugs. |
