This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Edwin C. Rust was born in Hammonton, California in 1910. “Ted” Rust studied at Deep Springs College in Death Valley, continued at Cornell University, and Yale School of Fine Art in 1936.  He was head of the art department at William and Mary until the onset of WWII.  As the national director of the Arts and Skills Corps for the Red Cross, he taught art to servicemen in veterans’ hospitals.  He then pursued a sculpting career in Brooklyn, New York until 1949 when he moved to Tennessee where he became director of the Memphis Academy of Arts, a position he held for 26 years.  He died in Memphis in July 2010. 

Member:  National Sculpture Society. Exhibited:  Sculpture International (Philadelphia), 1949.
