Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Painter. Born in Nevada on July 21, 1890. Rives was raised in San Jose, CA. Her art studies began at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1910. She later studied with Wm M. Chase (Carmel in 1914), and Armin Hansen whom she wed in 1922. An excellent painter, her work was shown at the East Bay Artists exhibition in 1917 and a few times after her marriage. The Hansen home was one of the gayest, most hospitable on the Monterey Peninsula and a gathering place for artists. Mrs. Hansen died there on Dec. 1, 1968. CAR.
