This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Frances Irene Rich was born in Spokane, WA on January 8, 1910.  Rich earned her B.A. from Smith College in 1931 and then studied in Paris for two years with sculptor Malvina Hoffman.  Upon returning to the U.S., she further studied at the Boston Museum School and established a studio in New York City. In the early 1930s she had a brief film career and appeared in six films.  She died in Payson, Arizona on October 14, 2007. 

Works held:  Smith College (busts); Arlington National Cemetery (Army-Navy Nurse Monument); UC Berkeley (pelican in front of Pelican Bldg); Boston Public Library (bust of Alice Stone Blackwell).
