From Pojoaque Pueblo 15 miles north of Santa Fe, New Mexico, George Rivera is a sculptor who is also the lieutenant governor of the Pueblo and has devoted himself to its preservation. He conceived the idea of the Poeh Cultural Center, an adobe complex of more than 50,000 square feet of museum, gallery, studio, and artist demonstration space.
He grew up living between his mother at the Pueblo and his father's home in Santa Fe. A high school teacher in Santa Fe helped Rivera gain admission (showing 500 of 1430 characters). |
