Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
| Illustrator. Born in Scotland in 1873.
Ross sailed to San Francisco as a teenager and studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute. He worked in the art department of the Chronicle until 1904. He then settled in NYC where he illustrated such books as Merry Wives of Windsor, Great Expectations, and Pickwick Papers. He died there on Dec. 26, 1946.
