This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Hayward, CA on March 4, 1893.  Helen Jordan's parents were both school teachers; her father founded Hayward Union High School.  In 1894 she moved across the bay to San Francisco where she grew up and graduated from Polytechnic High School.  Opting for an art career, she moved to Los Angeles where she was a pupil of J. Francis Smith, J. E. McBurney, and Theodore Lukits at the School of Art & Design.  Jordan then worked as a commercial artist in Los Angeles and made painting excursions to the nearby deserts.  In 1943 she wed C. B. Rollins and lived in La Crescenta until her
return to San Francisco in 1969.  She lectured on California during the Mexican rule and accompanied her lectures with slides of her works.  The artist died in Livermore, CA on Dec. 27, 1985.

Exh:  Calif. Art Club, 1935.  In:  Southwest Museum (LA); Education Bldg of San Diego Schools (mural).
