Born March 25, 1892 in Illinois (probably Chicago) to Henry and Johanna Reents, immigrants from Germany. Worked as supply clerk and ultimately accountant for Chicago Telephone Co. (later AT&T) in the 1920s-1940s. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and later settled in Michigan City, Indiana. Reents was a member of the Indiana Art Club and exhibited at the Hoosier Salon.
He married Grace V. Stineman (1891-1979) March 30, 1937 in Chicago.
