Born in Chatanooga, Tennessee, Henry Ransom became a painter noted for a unique style of abstract realistic still lifes with elements reflecting his native southern culture. Early in his career, Henry Ransom painted realist figures in interior settings.
He studied art at the University of Georgia, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1964 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting in 1972.
