According to art historian and author, Lawrence Jeppson, Jean-Pierre Relange was "born in Paris in 1938 and began exhibiting in the principal French salons in 1961, and since 1962 he has had a succession of one-man shows." "His works have been widely exhibited in the United States." "He is winner of the Grand Prix, Julian, the Premier Prix de la Salon de St. Guenole, and other compositions."
One of his paintings appeared on a French postage stamp with a first day issue of May 1, 1990.
