A highly regarded topographer and survey artist who did an occasional watercolor, John Renshawe was a general assistant on John Wesley Powell's survey of the Grand Canyon in 1872. Following this assignment, he was a topographer in Washington DC with Powell until 1879, when Clarence King reassigned him to be a topographer with the United States Geological Survey.
In this capacity, he joined geologist Arnold Hague on a survey expedition of Yellowstone National Park 1883. From 1882 to 1885, (showing 500 of 1105 characters). |
