| | Born in Mt Carmel, IL on Feb. 28, 1859. For 22 years Ridgway was in charge of the U.S. Geological Survey and then worked for the Carnegie Institute. By 1920 he had moved to California and in 1926 joined the staff of LACMA. He died in National City, CA on Dec. 22, 1947. His brother was artist Robert Ridgway. Exh: LACMA, 1926 (solo).
