This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in St. Paul, MN on March 19, 1895, Stohr studied with Simon and Ménard in Paris and at the Art Students League in NYC with Robert Henri and George Bellows who regarded her so highly they sponsored her first exhibition.

Stohr settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1915 and the following year was a member of the faculty of the Carmel Arts & Crafts Club. She further studied under Armin Hansen and was active in the local art scene as a teacher and portrait painter.

Before 1925 she married Robert Roe and lived in Monterey's historic Gordon House which had been built in 1849 from wood brought around the Horn. She died in Trenton, NJ in November 1979.

Member: Carmel Art Association; Society of Independent Artists.
