|The following biography is from the artist, Kimberly Jayne Rowlett:|
I do varying kinds of art and photography. I am basically a self-taught
artist, and I enjoy working with oils, acrylics, watercolors. My painting style
tends to be impressionist/expressionist and often the subject matter consists of everything from florals, landscapes, seascapes, to expressionist
paintings with titles such as "Promises, Hope & White Paint" and "Without
I am currently at work on my "code paintings". I tend to strive to make my work as diverse as possible. I like to work in different styles and medias. As I have diverse insights that I must express.
As a photographer, I prefer to work with subjects that are about nature, animals, plants, even some insects, although I also enjoy doing fine art photography as well.
I was born and raised in eastern Tennessee. Growing up I used to think that
the country and the south was THE most boring place, and I had thought that
I would move away eventually when I grew up. However I've learned to love
this areas' natural beauty much more. I grew up on one of our family's
home places (farms). My maternal grandmother raised me, and we were still very close until she passed away several years ago.
However, I along with other members of our family will always call the same
place I grew up in home. I feel that certain health problems contributed to
my desire to continue to pursue art and photography. I seem to have a couple of things in common with Van Gogh. Temporal lobe epilepsy and a depressive disorder. It helps me to have a creative problem to resolve, that allows me to look beyond the surface, and the mundane.
Graduated Bradley Central High School
Attended Cleveland State Community College
Cartooning class taken from University of Tennessee at Knoxville
Two basic photography classes from University of Georgia and from Cleveland State Community College
I have been influenced by more contemporary artists such as the late Bob Ross and various contemporary watercolor/acrylic artists to Van Gogh, Monet, Seurat, Picasso, to name but a few.
Noted in Who's Who of America 2000,2001,2002 editions, along with Who's
Who of American Women millennial edition, Kim Rowlett is a Native of Eastern
Tennessee and is of Cherokee Indian descent. She continues to pursue both
art and photography at home in the scenic south and to strive for diversity
in both her art and medias used. She continues to exhibit both nationally and
internationally, and of course locally.
I consider my exhibition (at this time) highlights to include the fine art
photographic collage that toured Russia in 1996 in an AVA members tour art
exchange entitled "Evolution of an American Family."
