Born in New Harmony, Utah, Lura Redd was part of a Mormon family that settled in Utah under the leadership of Brigham Young. She studied at the University of Utah with Mabel Frazer and painted with her at Zion Canyon in Utah and the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Her travels to these areas began in the 1920s.
She also studied at the Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles for several years and at a landscape school in Canada. For twenty years, she was an instructor and for part of that (showing 500 of 957 characters). |
