Mel Rosas was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1950. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Drake University in Des Moines and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA.
Mr. Rosas taught at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada; and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He is an Associate Professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, where he has taught since 1976.
