| A painter whose style has been likened to Vincent Van Gogh, Michael
Ramseur is known for his expressionist scenes that speak of the fragile
spirit of human beings "as well as the shimmering, glowing, shadowy,
sometimes sinister impenetrability of their shelter, their home, their
'prison' " (gallery art). A recurring, 'obsessive' subject for
him is the Danvers State Hospital in Massachusetts, and the people
behind its walls. Although the settings are the exterior of the
buildin (showing 500 of 2117 characters). |
