Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:

Painter. Born in San Francisco, CA on Sept. 21, 1898. Romer was exposed to art at an early age, since his father was a frame maker for Vickery, Atkins, & Torrey Gallery. The younger Romer began painting landscapes at age 15 and remained a self-taught artist except for one year at the CSFA. In 1927 he moved across the bay to Marin County. For nearly 50 years he worked in the insurance business as an underwriter while painting in his leisure. He died in San Rafael, CA on Dec. 24, 1985. His specialty was scenes of the Sierra Nevada and the Marin hills.
