William Percy Rowbottom (also known as "Percy William Rowbottom" and "Percy Rowbottom") was an English artist who was born in Nottingham and later moved to Idridgehay, Derbyshire, where he spent the majority of his years.

Though the exact dates of the artist's life are unknown, his exhibition period stemmed from 1875 to 1908, and genealogical records indicate possible life dates of 1865-1943. The vast majority of works seen in the market today date to the 1880s, which was, evidently, a period of great productivity for the artist.

Rowbottom was a painter of landscapes, still life, animal scenes, domestic scenes and rustic scenes.  He is known to have worked in both oils and watercolors, and occasionally used pastels "to great effect and atmosphere," according to the London and Donegal based Arthur Stewart Gallery who represented the artist's work during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century.

His work was reportedly created mainly on a commission basis for "many admirers in his day," with non-commission works only entering the mainstream marketplace during the mid 20th century.

Rowbottom exhibited at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham eight times, Dudley Gallery once, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts once, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool twice, Manchester City Art Gallery eleven times, Nottingham Museum and Art Gallery eighteen times and at the Royal Society of British Artists Once.  (The RSBA with a work titled: A Derbyshire Lane Near Littleowen)  His works are usually signed in a cursive-like text, "Percy Rowbottom," often in red or black pigment.
