Peter Roos (1850 - 1919)
A native of Lyngby, Skane, Roos studied decorative painting in Kristianstad before immigrating to America in 1871. He studied art at the Massachusetts Normal School, then at the school of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Roos taught at the Boston Art Academy, the University of Illinois at Urbana from 1880 through 1889, then directed the art program in the Cambridge, Massachusetts’ public schools until the time of his death.
