Artist Runar Rodell was known for his unique three dimensional dioramas and constructed about five-thousand of them. Among his collectors when he was living were Bob Hope and Ronald Reagan.
Born in Sweden, Rodell moved to the United States when he was in his early thirties. The artist had no formal art training when he made his first diorama while recovering from tuberculosis.
Rodell sold thousand of dioramas over the years. He began by painting a background in oil which he place (showing 500 of 1016 characters). |
