Biography from AskART:
Ruth Rosengard was born in the Pacific Northwest, and attended school in Washington and Oregon. She studied music at the Julliard School in New York for five years during the late 1920s, where she made extra income during her off-hours as an organist for silent films.

She moved to San Francisco in 1931, where she studied art with Maria Von Ridelstein, Thomas Leighton, and Arthur Palmer. Her paintings have been shown in many Bay Area galleries, and she juried many shows and festivals in the area. She has received awards for her portraits and still lifes.

She was a member of the Society of Western Artists and the Pacifica Art Guild, where she served on the Board of Directors as a juror for many years. Dying on February 20, 2003, Rosengard lived to be 98 years old. From 1992, her residence was Everett, Washington. She continues to paint throughout her life, firmly believing that: "every day, my skills improve."

Born in St Cloud, MN on Feb. 5, 1905. Rosengard grew up in Seattle and on a ranch in Oregon. After her marriage in 1925 to Ernest Hibbard, she studied music at the Juilliard School in NYC. While there, she was an organist for silent films including "The Jazz Singer." Upon settling in San Francisco in 1931, she studied painting with Maria von Ridelstein, Thomas Leighton, and Arthur Palmer. A widow, she wed Ben Rosengard in 1941. She was active in the San Francisco art scene until 1992 and then moved to Everett, WA where she remained uintil his death on Feb. 21, 2003. Member: Society of Western Artists; Pacifica Art Guild. Exh: Peninsula AA, 1965; Art Festival (SF), 1965.
