| Born in Dundee, Scotland on Aug. 19, 1887. Robertson studied art at the National Gallery in London before arriving in Los Angeles in 1924. He brought with him 500 finished canvases. At MGM he painted historical art for movie sets. Primarily a portraitist, he also painted marine scenes of the California coast from his yacht. He was a dog-show enthusiast and did many etchings, oils, and watercolors of various breeds of dogs. Robertson died in Los Angeles on Jan. 9, 1970.
