|  A nephew of artist Paul Ritter (1829-1907), Wilhelm Ritter was from Nurnberg, Germany and came to the United States in 1893 to represent his country at the Chicago World's Fair Exposition. One of his entries, 45 feet by 30 feet, was an historical scene of Nurnberg. He also did some architectural views of Chicago in 1894, and these works earned him a diploma and Columbus medal inscribed to "Professor Ritter". His medium was transparent watercolor.
