| Spending most of his life in North and South Carolina, William Randall was in Washington DC in 1893 and shortly after in Arizona. After that he returned to North Carolina, where he died in Blowing Rock in 1905.
In 1880 and 1881, he took notes and did drawings for thirty-one zoology lectures given by Frederic William Simonds at the University of North Carolina. Explanatory text describes Randall as "later a portrait painter." (Notebook)
