| Born in Carson City, Nevada on January 22, 1872, the daughter of an itinerant photographer. Winifred often accompanied her father on trips to Nevada City where she discovered a world of beauty in the culture being generated from the money of the Comstock silver mines. She bought her first box of oil paints there and decided to become a portrait painter. After studying at the School of Design in San Francisco, she had further training at the Boston School of Fine Arts and in E (showing 500 of 1862 characters). |
