Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
| | A painter, Slade had a photography studio in Toronto, Canada in 1879 and was a resident of San Diego during 1887-91. While there, he painted scenes of San Diego Bay and the surrounding area. The few examples of his extant work are from the brush of a highly competent painter. His watercolors and oils are executed in a realistic style similar to that of the Hudson River painters. CD. | | Nearly 20,000 biographies can be found in Artists in California 1786-1940 by Edan Hughes and is available for sale ($150).
