This biography from the Archives of AskART:
From San Diego, California, contemporary artist Aaron St. John create canvases that focus on the farmers, ranchers and domestic livestock that collectively make up America's rural heritage. His work evokes the joy and spirituality that these individuals have experienced in their direct personal relationship with nature.

He began his career in the animation industry, but today focuses on agrarian landscapes and genre scenes inspired by nineteenth-century landscape painters and the French animaliers.

From mundane farm chores to the delightful little animals, his paintings capture the essence of life on the farm. His oils include the old time draft horses, harvesting scenes, and barnyard cattle, sheep, hogs, and poultry. His colorful paintings are reminders of early farming on the fast-vanishing family farm.

A member of the California Art Club and an associate member of the Oil Painters of America, St. John's work has been featured in publications including American Artist, Western Horseman, and Country Collectibles, as well as on PBS television.
He also teaches art and enjoys music, sometimes sitting in with professional folk musicians.
