| An Instructor of Art at the College of the City of New York and art editor of the Encyclopedia Americana, Abram Schulman emigrated to New York as a young man and studied at the Academy of Design with Samuel Johnson Woolf.
He was a member of the Association of American Painters and Sculptors and the Salons of America, with whom he also exhibited his paintings.
Schulman was born in Koenigsberg, Germany. Toward the end of his life, he lived in Phoenix, Arizona where he died.
