| Painter. Born in San Francisco, CA on July 25, 1865.
Ada Romer was a member of a pioneer family whose father arrived with the Gold Rush. Her most famous work was a large canvas of the heads of 40 painters, writers and musicians who were her contemporaries. Her marriage to James Shawhan ended in divorce. She died in Oakland, CA on Sept. 14, 1947.
