Muralist Alex Seotewa was born in 1933 at the Zuni Pueblo. Seotewa attended St. Joseph's College in Albuquerque, New Mexico on an art scholarship. Seotewa next worked as a sign painter in the army during the Korean War.
Alex Seotewa's masterwork has been the murals of life-size Zuni kachinas he has been painting on the walls of the Zuni pueblo mission church, Our Lady of Guadalupe, which was originally constructed in 1629.
