Amos W. Sangster, a Canadian-American, was a noted artist, painter,
etcher, inventor and respected art instructor primarily known for his
etchings of the Niagara Falls region, and for his landscape and marine
paintings in oil and watercolor.
In the first half of the 1880's, Sangster began working on a series of etchings for the collection titled Niagara River and Falls from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario,
an important and ambitious project that became his life’s work, for
