| | Born in Kent, England in 1875. At age 12 Sheppard entered the South Kensington Art School. While a teenager he came to the U.S. and settled in NYC where he painted scenery for the Metropolitan Opera. Later he had studios in Chicago, San Francisco (1905), and Los Angeles. For eight years he worked for Paramount Studios. During the 1920s he traveled widely while studying art in Paris, London, and Rome. Returning to Hollywood, he painted portraiture and famous boxing matches.
