This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A painter, illustrator, muralist, and writer, Bernadine Custer was born in Bloomington, Illinois and lived during her professional years in New York City and Londonderry, Vermont where she was a member of the Southern Vermont Artists.

She exhibited at the Chicago Art Institute, Corcoran Gallery, the Pennsylvania Academy, and with the Society of Independent Artists. Her murals are at the Treasury Department in Washington DC.

She was married to Arthur E. Sharp and is referenced in Who Was Who in American Art of 1959 and 1947.

Shirley Twitchell, Assistant Town Clerk of Londonderry, Vermont, copied the following from the artist's death certificate:

Bernadine Custer Sharp - Artist - Self Employed - Born June 16, 1900 - Died November 2, 1991.

Twitchell wrote that "Bernadine donated her house and land to the Town of Londonderry when she died to keep for a Historical Society and Artists shows etc. We knew her for many years also."
