| A Washington DC painter, Bladen Snyder studied in Paris with Messer from 1884 to 1885 and at the Academie Julian with Boulanger and Lefebvre. In the 1890s, he exhibited at the Paris Salon and then painted in North Africa and Europe before settling in DC.
