The following information was submitted in September of 2006 by the artist: When
I was in the fifth grade, (Pittsburgh, PA) teachers were asked to
recommend one pupil to attend Saturday morning art classes at the
Carnegie Museum (two trolley rides from home). I was among the
chosen. My father accompanied me, with the understanding that the
first time would be the last. There were 500 students! Elmer
Stephan, the teacher, was kind, articulate, patient and encourag (showing 500 of 4331 characters). |
