| | Born in Argus, IN on Aug. 24, 1901. Shirey moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1907. During the 1920s he worked there as an artist and later as a civil engineer for the City of Los Angeles. He died there of alcoholism on June 11, 1944. | Source:
