This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Rome, NY on June 21, 1886. Carlotta studied at the ASL in NYC under Kenneth Hays Miller in 1911 and the following year married Joseph Scott. The Scotts came to California on their honeymoon and chose to remain. Settling in Calexico across the border from Mexicali, she designed and built a studio-home. She studied at the College of Fine Art at USC (1916-17) and at the CSFA in the 1920s followed by further study at Académie Colarossi in Paris. She traveled widely in California and built a summer cabin near Santa Cruz in 1926. The years 1940-51 were spent in Yardley, PA as Mrs. Robert Cole. Returning to California in 1951, she lived on the San Lorenzo River near Santa Cruz until her death on Aug. 30, 1972. A traditional painter, her oeuvre includes desert landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Exh: PPIE, 1915; Santa Cruz Art League; Santa Cruz Co. Fairs; Contemporary Club of Trenton, 1945 (solo); AAPL, 1945 (prize). In: Barbara Worth Hotel (El Centro, CA).
