Biography from Heritage Auctions (
Catherine McKinley Smith earned degrees in art and English from the Southern Methodist University in Texas.  Upon her graduation she taught art in the Dallas Public Schools.  She later was the head of the art department at the Hockaday School for Girls and taught some classes at SMU.

After her marriage to Hubert W. Smith in 1936 the couple moved to Scotland where he studied medicine and she continued her art studies.  Catherine spent her summer vacations traveling the Rhine River painting historic castles and the German countryside.  The couple returned to Texas upon the outbreak of War World II.

Catherine McKinley Smith was a long time member of the Klepper Sketch Club and Frank Reaugh Art Club.

Her sisters, Frances McKinley and Mary Thompson, were also painters.
