Biography from Odon Wagner Gallery & Odon Wagner Contemporary:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
After studying at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, he exhibited in Paris at the Salon beginnning in 1849. Soulacroix had a particular interest in the elegance of Parisian high life. He was fascinated with depicting scenes of the upper class at leisure, dressed in lavish silks and satins.
The artist created an image of social serenity.
Soulacroix paid attention to every minute detail in his paintings. He managed to capture the intricate details of lustre, texture, and reflection in the textiles surrounding the sitter, and those found on the sitter's attire. |
