Born in New Brunswick, Canada on Sept. 23, 1885. Stevenson settled in Boston with his family when he was a child. During his youth he worked in Idaho and Montana as a gold miner and sheep herder. At the advent of WWI, he moved to San Francisco where he worked in the shipyards while studying art at the Institute of Art. After the war he and his wife settled in nearby Menlo Park. As well as a commercial artist, he was also a fine carpenter. In his leisure he painted still lifes, landscapes and a few portraits. Stevenson died in Palo Alto, CA on April 23, 1968.
