This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Christian Schumann is a painter of gaudily-colored, cartoon-expressionist images with an undercurrent of social commentary and personal suffering. He was born in 1970 in Rhode Island, though he grew up in Texas. He studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, in California, receiving his BFA degree in 1992. Schumann then moved to New York City, where he now lives and works. He has had one-man exhibitions in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City. Group exhibitions include the Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial, in 1995, and "La Belle et La Bête" at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris.
