Painter, architect. Born in Cortland, NY on Oct. 27, 1869.
Shepard moved to Kansas with his family in 1880. In 1895 he went to California and enrolled at UC Berkeley to study architecture. After joining William Keith on a painting trip, he took up landscape painting. Keith introduced him to James Martin Griffin who taught him to paint. Returning to Kansas in 1907, he established an architecture practice and designed more than 600 homes in Kansas City. Shepard died there on April 30, 1 (showing 500 of 777 characters). |
