| Painter. Born in Lynn, MA on Feb. 17, 1896. Sawyer received a scholarship at an early age to the Howard Walker School of Fine Arts in Boston and further studied figure painting at MIT. Following service in WWI, he remained in England and studied at the Plymouth Technical School of Art. The French government awarded him a scholarship to Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. On his return to the U.S. he studied in NYC at the ASL under Henri. Sawyer moved to Pasadena, CA in 1932. There he taught at the St (showing 500 of 1032 characters). |
