| E. W. Arnold B. Stoton was born in England on June 11, 1897. Stoton studied art in London under several noted masters including Charles Bellamy. After traveling in Europe and Africa, he moved to the United States in 1910.
He spent three years in Victoria, BC before moving to San Diego in 1916 and remained there until his death on November 1, 1957. He is buried there in Mount Hope Cemetery.
