| | Born in West Virginia on May 5, 1883. While a resident of Los Angeles in 1906-13, Sawyer studied painting with Jean Mannheim while working for the Times and Record. He appears to have left Los Angeles and returned in the late 1930s. For 25 years he was publisher of Western Trucking. He died in Los Angeles on May 31, 1964.
